The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released official notification to conduct NTA UGC NET June 2024 for ‘Junior Research Fellowship’ and eligibility for ‘Assistant Professor’ and admission to Ph.D in 83 subjects. 

UGC-NET, which is a test to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for ‘award of Junior Research Fellowship and appointment as Assistant Professor’, ‘appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D.’ and ‘admission to Ph.D. only’ in Indian universities and colleges.

Eligibility Criteria of NTA UGC NET Exam


Age Limit:

JRF: Not more than 30 years as on 01.06.2024. A relaxation of upto 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to OBC-NCL (as per the Central list of OBC available on website: www.ncbc.nic.in) /SC/ST/PwD/Third gender categories and to women applicants.

Assistant Professor: There is no upper age limit in applying for UGC-NET for Assistant Professor.

Admission to PhD: There is no upper age limit in applying for UGC-NET for Admission to PhD.

NTA UGC NET Qualification

(a) General/Unreserved/General-EWS candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC (available on the website: www.ugc.ac.in in Humanities and Social Science (including languages), Computer Science and Applications, Electronic Science etc. are eligible for this Test. List of subjects at Post Graduation level is attached as Appendix -III. The Other Backward Classes (OBC) belonging to Non-Creamy Layer/Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Persons with Disability (PwD)/Third gender category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test.

(b) Candidates who are pursuing their Master’s degree or equivalent course or candidates who have appeared for their qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this test.

(c) The candidates having passed a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed.

➢ The candidates qualifying in the NET, based on a four-year undergraduate degree, will be eligible for the award of the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and for admission to the Ph.D. The candidates qualifying in the NET, based on a four-year undergraduate degree, will not be eligible for appointment as Assistant Professor.

(d) The candidates who are pursuing Four Year/8 Semester Bachelor’s Degree Programme and are in their last semester/year may also apply for the test. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible for the award of JRF/admission to Ph.D. only after fulfilling the requirements contained in the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedures for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2022 within two years (if qualified for award of JRF)/within one year (if qualified for admission to Ph.D. only) from the date of declaration of the NET result, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified.

(e) The candidates with a Four-Year Bachelor’s Degree Programme are allowed to appear in a subject (the List of Subjects and their Codes for UGC - NET June 2024 are given at official notification) in which they want to pursue a Ph.D. irrespective of the discipline in which they have obtained the four-year bachelor’s degree.

Only one application is to be submitted by a candidate.

- Candidates intending to get their evaluated Answer Scripts re-checked will have to apply through the SEBA’s online portal http://sebaonline.org.

- Click on the link “APPLY FOR RE-CHECKING OR PHOTOCOPY WITH RE-CHECKING OF ANSWER SCRIPTS” from 22nd April, 2024 to 07th May, 2024.

- A fee of Rs. 400/- (Rupees four hundred only) per Subject to be paid through online mode.

- The Results of Re-checking will be informed to the Applicant through a Notification within 30 days from the last date of receipt of application.

2. Provide your Roll and No. of HSLC/AHM Examination-2024 to proceed.

3. Select the service you want to avail i.e. select either only re-checking or photocopy with re-checking of the evaluated answer scripts.

4. Select the subjects for which you want to apply for re-checking/ photocopy with re-checking.

5. Upload the scanned copy of your Original Admit Card in .jpeg/.png format and file size upto 500KB.

6. Provide your contact details in the space provided.

7. Check carefully all the information provided by you. (SEBA is not responsible for any unprocessed applications due to wrong information provided by the candidates).

8. Proceed to make payment by clicking “CONFIRM AND PAY ONLINE” button.

9. Enter necessary details on the online payment page. Click on blue coloured “Pay Now” button on bottom right to confirm the payment.

10. After making successful payment, you will get your ARN (Application Receipt Number) in your mobile number. You can also download your invoice of the payment. (Keep it safe for future reference).

11. You can use your ARN further to check the status of your application on the website.

1. He/ She must be a citizen of India and should be from any one of the following groups:

They must have the unflinching commitment towards the cause which should be translated into the work they undertake.

3. Preferably the PL V's shall be selected, who do not look up to the income they derive from their services as PL V's, but they should have a mind set to assist the needy in the society.

Age: The minimum age for the selection of Para Legal Volunteer should not be less than 21 years as on date of notice.

Pay: The work of PLVs does not carry any salary, remuneration or wages except honorarium fixed by District Legal Services Authority, Hojai from time to time, as per rules.
