About JAM: Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. (JAM) 2019 will be held on February 10, 2019 (Sunday) for admission to M.Sc. (Two Years), Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree, M.Sc.-M.S. (Research)/ Ph.D. Dual Degree and other Post-Bachelor Degree programmes at IITs (Bhilai, Bhubaneswar, Bombay, Delhi, Dhanbad, Gandhinagar, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jodhpur, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Patna, Roorkee, Ropar and Varanasi) for the academic session 2019-2020.


JAM score will be used by IISc Bangalore for admission to the Integrated Ph.D. programmes. JAM score will also be used by other centrally funded technical institutions like NITs, IIEST, Shibpur, SLIET Punjab and IISERs for admission to their programmes. JAM 2019 is open for all nationals. However, foreign nationals will be required to satisfy the rules and regulations of the admitting institute(s) pertaining to foreign students for admission.

Test Papers and Mode of Examination: JAM 2019 will have seven test papers, namely, Biological Sciences (BL), Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Geology (GG), Mathematics (MA), Mathematical Statistics (MS) and Physics (PH) each of three hours duration. For all the latest papers, JAM 2019 examination will be conducted in Online mode only. A candidate can appear in either one Test Paper or two Test Papers subject to the restrictions of test schedule given below and by paying an additional fee for the second test paper.

Information Brochure and Application Procedure:
The information Brochure and all other information related to JAM 2019 will be updated from time to time on the website http://jam.iitkgp.ac.in. A candidate can register and apply ONLINE only for JAM 2019 from September 05,2018 to October 10, 2018. The application fee can be paid online. The details of application fees are given below:

  • Female (All Categories)/ SC/ ST/ PWD: Rs. 750/- for ONE Test Paper and Rs. 1050/- for TWO Test Papers
  • All Others: Rs. 1500/- for ONE Test Paper and Rs. 2100/- for TWO Test Papers
Eligibility Requirements for Admission:
In the qualifying degree, the aggregate marks or CGPA/ CPI without rounding-off (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) should be at least 55% or 5.5 out of 10 for General/ OBC (NCL) category candidates and Foreign nationals, and 50% or 5.0 out of 10 for SC/ ST and PWD category candidates (if CGPA/ CPI is on a different scale, it would be linearly mapped to a scale on 10)

Note: Proof of having passed the qualifying degree with required eligibility, as specified by the admitting institute, should be submitted by September 30, 2019. reservation policy is as per the Government of India norms.

Joint Admission Procedure:
Admission to the above mentioned academic programmes at IITs for the Academic Session 2019-2020 will be made on the basis of All India merit list of JAM 2019. Candidates who qualify in any test paper of JAM 2019 will be eligible to apply for admission to all the academic programmes corresponding to that test paper, provided they also satisfy the minimum educational qualifications and the eligibility requirements as specified by the institute(s) in which admission is sought. After the declaration of JAM 2019 results, qualified candidates should apply Online to the Organizing Institute (IIT Kharagpur) specifying their preferences for the programmes for which the admission is sought. Candidate should note that being in the merit list of any test paper neither guarantees nor provided any automatic entitlement for admission.
