Emoluments: Presently, the starting basic pay is 48,480/- (Plus 4 advance increments) in the scale of 48480-2000/7-62480-2340/2-67160-2680/7-85920 applicable to Junior Management Grade Scale-I. The official will be eligible for DA, HRA, CCA, PF, Contributory Pension Fund i.e., NPS, LFC, Medical Facility, Lease rental facility etc. and other allowances & perquisites as per rules in force from time to time. The approximate CTC at initial scale of pay at Mumbai Centre is Rs.21.97 Lacs.
Eligibility Criteria of SBI PO Recruitment
Age Limit: Not below 21 years and not above 30 years as on 01.04.2026 i.e. candidates must have been born not later than 01.04.2005 and not earlier than 02.04.1996 (both days inclusive).
Age Relaxation: The upper age limit is relaxable :
• SC/ST — 5 years
• OBC — 3 years
• PwBD — 10 years
• PwBD (OBC/NCL) — 13 years
• PwBD (SC/ST) — 15 years
• Ex-Servicemen — 5 years
Educational Qualification: Graduation in any discipline from a recognised University or any equivalent qualification recognised as such by the Central Government.
Final Year Students: Those who are in the Final Year/ Semester of their Graduation may also apply provisionally subject to the condition that, if called for interview, they will have to produce proof of having passed the graduation examination on or before 30.09.2026.
Others: Candidates possessing qualifications in Medical, Engineering, Chartered Accountant, Cost Accountant would also be eligible.

Selection Process of SBI Probationary Officer (PO)
The selection for Probationary Officers will be done through a three-Phase process:
Phase-I: Online Preliminary Examination:
Preliminary Examination consisting of Objective Test for 100 marks will be conducted online. The test will have of 3 Sections (with separate timings for each section) as follows:

Phase-II: Online Main Examination:
The Main Examination will be conducted online and will consist of Objective tests for 200 marks and Descriptive test for 30 marks. The Descriptive test will be administered immediately after conclusion of the Objective test and candidates will have to type their Descriptive test answers on the computer.

❖ Negative Marking (Both for Preliminary & Main Exam)
There will be penalty for wrong answers marked in Objective Tests. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate, 1/4th of marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score. If a question is left blank, i.e. if no answer is marked by candidate, there will be no penalty for that question.
Phase-III: Psychometric Test, Group Exercises & Interview:
SBI PO Phase-III consists of three components:
1. Psychometric Test (No separate marks)
➢ Assesses personality traits, behavior, leadership style, teamwork, emotional intelligence, and decision-making ability.
➢ The report may be used by the interview panel during the interview.
2. Group Exercise (GE) – 20 Marks
➢ Candidates participate in a group activity/discussion.
➢ Evaluates communication skills, teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, and ability to work in a group.
3. Personal Interview (PI) – 30 Marks
➢ One-to-one interaction with the interview board.
➢ Tests banking awareness, current affairs, personal background, confidence, communication skills, and overall suitability for the role.
Marks Breakup:
➢ Psychometric Test: No marks
➢ Group Exercise: 20 marks
➢ Interview: 30 marks
➢ Total Phase-III Marks: 50
For the final merit list, the Mains Exam carries 75% weightage and Phase-III (GE + Interview) carries 25% weightage.
