About Dr. B. Borooah Cancer Institute, Guwahati:

Dr. Bhubaneswar Borooah Cancer Institute (BBCI) was set up by a voluntary organization called 'Dr. B. Borooah Cancer Society Trust'. Dr. Bhubaneswar Borooah (4th September 1893 - 25th September 1956) was a great physician, freedom fighter and philanthropist of Assam. The Institute was recognized as Regional Cancer Centre by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India in the year 1980. On 6th of August, 1986 the Institute was handed over to the Government of Assam by the B Borooah Cancer Society Trust retaining its autonomy. 

The Institute conducts various academic courses like MD in Radiotherapy, M.Ch in Surgical Oncology, DM in Medical Oncology, 2 Years Post Graduate Fellowship Programme in Head & Neck Oncology, Gynaecologic Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Medical Oncology and Onco-Pathology in collaboration with Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, Ph.D., M.Sc in Radiological Physics and many other paramedical courses like Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT), Diploma in X- Ray and Imaging Technology, Diploma in O.T. Technology, which are affiliated to Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences, Assam and Gauhati University.

1. Technical Courses (Affiliated To Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Science (SSUHS), Assam)

a) POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA PROGRAMME IN RADIOGRAPHY:

* Duration: 2yrs
* Seat Capacity: 6 (six)
* Fee: Admission fee Rs.5500/- (one time) + Tuition Fee Rs.1200/-(per month)
* Session: Starts from August

* Eligibility: Graduate in Science from a recognized University


b) DIPLOMA COURSE FOR ANAESTHESIA TECHNICIANS:

* Duration: 2 Yrs
* Seat Capacity: 10 (Ten)
* Fee: Admission Fee Rs.5000/- (one time) + Tuition fee Rs.1000/- (per month).
* Session: Starts from August.

* Eligibility:10+2 in Science stream from any recognized board/ council with minimum 50% marks, B.Sc graduate can also apply.


c) DIPLOMA PROGRAMME IN RADIOTHERAPY TECHNOLOGY

* Duration: 2 Yrs.
* Seat Capacity: 10(Ten).
* Fee: Admission Fee Rs.5000/-(one time) + Tuition fee Rs.1000/-(per month).
* Session: Starts from August.

* Age: 17 -30 yrs.
* Eligibility: 10+2 in Science stream from any recognized board/council with minimum 50% aggregate.


d) DIPLOMA COURSE IN MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCE (DMLS)

* Duration: 2 Yrs followed by 6 months internship
* Minimum of 720 hours of internship should be completed by the candidate to be awarded a diploma.
* Total numbers of hours- 2896 for the total course

* Seat Capacity: 10 (ten)
* Fee: Admission Fee Rs.5000/-(one time) + Tuition fee Rs.1000/- (per month)


e) ONE YEAR DIPLOMA IN OPERATION THEATRE AND CSSD TECHNOLOGY:

* Duration: 1 Year
* Seat Capacity: 10 (Ten)

* Session: Starts from August

* Eligibility: 10+2 in Science stream from any recognized board/council with minimum 50% marks in HSLC, B.Sc graduate can also apply.

a) POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA PROGRAMME IN RADIOTHERAPY 

* Duration: 2 yr
* Seat Capacity: 10 (Ten)
* Fees: Admission fee Rs. 5,500/- (one time) + Tuition Fee Rs. 1,200/- (per month)
* Session: Start in August

* Eligibility: Graduate in Science from a recognized University with Physics as major with 50% marks.

Selection Process Dr. B Borooah Cancer Institute Paramedical Course:

Selection will be based on merit and personal interview. Short listed candidates will be called for interview.
